While playing as a young child in rural Cambodia, Seyha suffered from an injury that caused a severe infection and eventual amputation of her leg.
When we met Seyha in 2011, then a timid 9 year old, extremely self-conscious of her appearance, her parents were still attempting to save the money necessary to buy a single prosthetic limb.
Now, ten years later, Seyha is confident, driven, and ambitious. Seyha meets with our Director of Programs, A.J., when he makes his site visits to Cambodia, providing crucial feedback on the Joshi and treatment process.
For Seyha, and girls like her, free mobility care is essential to ensuring they can walk or bike to school and receive the education they deserve.
When a CoolKid like Seyha, who at age 9 had not yet received any formal education, gains mobility only to become one of the top students in her class with dreams of becoming a doctor, that’s Growing Up ALTSO.
Together we’re building a future for girls that’s inclusive and equitable.
There are 106 million children living with untreated disabilities in the developing world. 95% cannot afford care, and 90% do not attend school. We are on a mission to change that. Mobility is so much more than movement, it is a human right. Donate a life-changing orthotic brace, prosthetic limb, or appropriately fitted wheelchair.
