Author: ALTSO Staff
"My name is Thongsouk, 16 years old, I live in Luangprabang province with my parents in a one-story house, there are 6 people in my family and I am the first one.
In April 2021, I got road accident while I was riding the motorbike to school. I was immediately admitted to 107 hospital then I got surgery on my right leg. I felt very upset and it was extremely hard to accept what has happening to me. I really worried how can I walk and go to school again. I cried when I thought about this.
It was a very bad time for me but thankfully a doctor said to me “you still have hope” and told me about the available of rehabilitation services. I was so happy to hear that. I can’t describe how happy this made me!
Now I got a new prosthetic leg with modular component that could help me to do many activities in my daily living, the new prosthetic leg has changed my life completely and I am very happy for that.
Before receiving the treatment, I had very difficult in standing, walking and carrying something, and I also feel very lonely and shy when I met people or my friends in community.
After receiving the treatment, I can walk and move around very comfortable, I feel more confident to meet people and attend the social events and the most important is that I can go back to school."
