Bhuwan lives with his family in a remote rural area of Nepal where the roads are muddy and treacherous, making them dangerous for vehicles. This means that walking is the main form of transportation and Bhuwan, who had been unable to move independently since birth, relied on his parents to carry him.
Their longest journey is the one they made to and from Bhuwan's school. This became became increasingly difficult as both Bhuwan and his father aged, putting Bhuwan’s education in jeopardy.
In 2020, Bhuwan received his very first appropriately fitted wheelchair at our program with Hope Disability Centre in Nepal. For the first time in his young life, Bhuwan could move independently.
Bhuwan now easily navigates the rugged roads from his home to his school with dignity. Bhuwan's parents are so thankful for Bhuwan’s greater independence and feel comforted knowing Bhuwan's education is no longer in jeopardy
There are 106 million children living with untreated disabilities in the developing world. 95% cannot afford care, and 90% do not attend school. We are on a mission to change that. Mobility is so much more than movement, it is a human right. Donate a life-changing orthotic brace, prosthetic limb, or appropriately fitted wheelchair.
